Effect of Grain Boundary Microstructure on Stress Corrosion Cracking in L_(c9) Aluminium Alloy

The stress corrosion cracking in L_(c9) alloy was investigated experimentallyin relation to the microstructure parameters and composition segregation of grainboundary. The results indicate that with increasing aging effect, Mgongrain boun-daries migrate to MgZn_2 with grains' growing up and spacing out. In this wayMg in solid solution on grain boundaries decreases and the ability of grainboundary to capture hydrogen is weakened,resulting in the reduction of stresscorrosion sensitivity.
