Numerical Simulation of Patterns of Acoustic Emission in Rock Failure Process

A numerical simulation code RFPA 2D was used to study acoustic emission of three kinds of rock with different heterogeneities under uniaxial loading. As the homogeneity increases, the property of nonlinear decreases and brittleness increases before the main crack. Acoustic emission of three kinds of rocks also presents three modes: swarm shocks, pre main after shocks, and main shock, and it shows good consistency between simulation and earthquake modes observed.
