General Expression of Doppler Effect

WEI Guo-zhu, LI Lin, DU An (School of Science, Northeastern University, Shenyang 110004, China.  
Considering the simultaneous motion of both wave source and the receiver relative to the medium in any direction, a general expression of Doppler effect of mechanical waves is deduced. Based on the principle of Einsteins relativity and the principle of constancy of light velocity, an expression of Doppler effect of light wave in vacuum is also deduced by using the formula of time dilation in special relativity. Two examples are given to show the use of this expression.
