The EBSD Study on an Acicular Ferrite/Martensite Dual-Phase Steel with High Strength/Low Yield Ratio

The microstructure of an HSLA(high strength/low alloy) steel with acicular ferrite/ martensite dual-phase was investigated using EBSD technique,with its mechanical properties tested.The results showed that the average grain size is about 2?μm,i.e.a fine-grained steel.In the dual-phase microstructure the volume fraction of martensite is 27.6%,and while that of ferrite is 70.9%,and half the grain boundary misorientation shows a small angle that is beneficial to improve the plasticity and deformability,e.g.the yield ratio is 0.674.Discusses mechanical properties in relation to grain size,phase volume fraction and grain boundary misorientation.
