DESIGN OF STATIC-DYNAMIC DUAL PURPOSE TRIAXIAL COMPRESSION TEST APPARATUS AND ITS APPLICATION IN THE STUDY OF EARTHQUAKE-INDUCED LARGE DEFORMATION

Experiment is very important in geotechnical engineering, a new developed test apparatus, named the static-dynamic dual purpose triaxial compression test apparatus is introduced in the paper. It is designed through cooperation of Hohai University and Marui Co. Ltd. Japan. It can stimulate many complicated stress conditions such as rotation of principal stress axis, sand liquefaction, and earthquake-induced large ground deformation. Its composition and application are introduced.
