DAILY OPTIMAL SCHEDULING OF THREE GORGES CASCADED HYDROPOWER PLANTS

Electricity interaction and hydraulic coupling between cascaded reservoirs lead to considerable complication of short-term economic operation of hydropower plants. Accordingly, the schemes of dispatch for plants are flexible and versatile. Based on three possible dispatch schemes of the Three Gorges cascaded hydropower plants, daily optimal operation is modeled in this paper and dynamic programming (DP) is employed to compute them. Results show DP is reliable and effective in solving the dispatch of cascaded hydropower.
