Modal-domain modelling of frequency-dependent overhead lines based on recursion algorithm

Real and constant transformation matrices are used for modal-domain modelling of frequency-dependent overhead transmission lines. For the convenience of time -domain convolution, the vector fitting method is adopted to approach the chara cteristic impedance and delay function in complex frequency-domain. Modal-doma in model is put forward to simplify the computation. At last, the method presented in this paper is applied to research the transient process of the overhead lines and demonstrated to be correct and effective. Combined with finite difference time-domain (FDTD) method, the proposed method can be extended to research the voltage and current transient process of overhead lines with multi-layer soil .
