Novel ultra-wideband printed monopole antennas fed by tapered coplanar waveguides

Two types of printed monopole antennas,namely the modified CPW-fed elliptical patch antenna and the novel CPW-fed semi-elliptical patch antenna,are presented to realize compact ultra-wide band printed monopole antennas.The simulated and experimental results demonstrate that these antennas possess the desirable super-wideband(SWB) characteristics and exhibit nearly omni-directional radiation patterns.
