A SET OF EXAMPLES ON THE PLANT ANATOMY APPLIED IN THE FIELD OF FORESTRY RESEARCH

This paper presents a set of examples about the knowledge of plant anatomy applied in the field of forestry research, They are:1—1. The wood anatomy is presented simply;1—2. The woods of 5 species of Populus and Ailanthus altissima in Northeastern China are suitable for making the material of pulp;1—3. A series of mensuration on epidermal tissue of bamboo culms may be useful for the identification of bamboo speeies;2—1. In the field of afforestation, it is found that there are mycorrhizas formed on the root apexes in many usual species of treers in Beijin;2—2. In autumn, the right moment for planting some species of seedlings can be determined by the test of physiologic and anatomic ecology (tést of PAE);3—1. In the area of forest tree breeding, the way of culture plant tissues has been applied in new China;3—2. The graft can be investigated by the way of anatomizing plant;3—3. The cases for some larch seedlings to overwinter, may be better known by thetest of PAE in autumn, last year;3—4. And the hardiness characters of the leaves of asrpens are stadied by anatomy, too。In addition to the examples mentioned above, there are even more other examples in this field so that it is impossible for us to count all of them. It is clear that the relationship between plant anatomy and forestry research is very close. When we want to properly apply the science that explores the inner structure of plants, we must make a further investigation, which will help us to raise our level. Therefore, we should pay great attention to the plant anatomy.
