Shape Variance Regularity of P. ussuriensis Kom Lumber Processed by Roller Compression

Sun Yaoxing, Liu Yixing, Fang Guiz hen(Northeast Forestry University, Harbin 150040, P. R. China)  
Under normal temperature, with compressibility rate of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% a nd 50%, P. ussuriensis Kom lumber at water saturation was compressed radiall y and tangentially without limit in cross direction. Variance of thickness, widt h, cubage and variance percent of per-dimension were studied before and after ro ller process in the condition of oven-dry, air-dry(M.C.12%) and water saturati on. By comparison with non-roller compression, the instantaneous distortion by r oller compression could return back mostly, the thickness variance diminished(f rom -0.154% to -4.500%), the width variance enlarged slightly(from 0 to 3.740% ), and the cubage reduced a little(from -0.329% to -3.019%).
