Spatial Structure of Scenic Forest of Cotinus coggygria in Badaling Forest Farm of Beijing

Some traditional structure factors of stand (mingling, neighborhood comparison and neighborhood pattern) were used to describe the spatial structure of the scenic forest in Badaling Forest Farm. The ratio of Cotinus coggygria Scop., Malus baccata (L.) Borkh, Platycladus orientalis (Linn.) Franco and Ulmus macrocarpa Hance in the stand is 6∶2∶1∶1. The average mingling value of the whole stand is 0.31, which is at a low level. Furthermore, the structure is unsteady due to the lower mingling value of C. coggygria (0.31). The values of neighborhood comparison of tree height and diameter at breast height for the stand are 0.42 and 0.40 respectively, while those for C. coggygria are 0.51 and 0.52, indicating that nearly a half number of C. coggygria trees is dominant. The average value of neighborhood pattern of the stand is 0.583, displaying a clumped distribution in structure, and that for C. coggygria is 0.499, representing a random distribution.
