Computer Simulation of Forest-fire Spread for GIS-based Model

Under the support of GIS, a space background database of forest-fire spread was established. On the base of the space background database, dynamic simulation of forest-fire spread was achieved with Visual C++6.0+MapObject2.1control technology by means of Wang Zhengfei′s forest-fire spread model and the algorithm for traversing every point. So, dynamic simulations of forest-fire spread at any arbitrary locations or under any arbitrary weather conditions were realized. The occurrence, development and spreading process of forest-fire are more intuitive, and the spread direction of forest fires can be simulated. Analysis of simulation results shows that the simulated effect is very satisfactory because computer runs fast in the process of simulation.
