Dynamic Change of Improving Effect of Atriplex canescens on Saline-alkaline Soil

Field trials were conducted to study the change of soil nutrient content in different soil layers two years after planting Atriplex canescens.Results indicates that A.canescens has high salt-tolerance.The changes of the chemical compositions at different depths of soil were remarkable,among which the total salt and pH decreased by 57.19% and 3.25% respectively,and the contents of organic matter,total nitrogen,available phosphorous and available potassium increased by 26.34%,42.78%,84.15% and 11.78% respectively.The improving effect of A.canescens was better than those of Salix babylonica planted in the saline soil used as the control.The decrease ranges of total salt and pH in 20~40 cm soil layer were superior to the other soil layers,and the effect in the first year was better than that in the second year.However,the improving effects of organic matter content,total nitrogen,available phosphorous and available potassium in the second year were better than those in the first year,the effects of 20~40 cm and 40~60 cm soil layers were better than that of 0~20 cm soil layer.Therefore,the improving effect of A.canescens on the saline soil is more remarkable than that of S.babylonica.
