Development Status of Forestry Robot

Jiang Shuhai(Institute of Intelligent Control and Robotic Technology,Nanjing Forestry University,Nanjing 210037,P.R.China)  
Combined with four decades of development of forestry robot,the application field of forestry robot is given,and the classification method of forestry robots is proposed according to the operations on roots,stems,leaves and fruits.Branch operating robot,trunk operating robot,grass operating robot and robots applied to forest product industry are discussed in terms of the development status of the forestry robot at home and abroad.The achievements in the developed and developing robots were expatiated from the aspect of domestic research on forestry robots.The key technologies for future research and the development direction are put forward based on the development of robot technology for recent five decades and the study of agriculture and forestry robot for more than four decades,which should focus primarily on robot mechanism,intelligent control,new robot,food safety and small robot,etc.
