Effects of Water and Fertilizer Supply on Root Morphology and Physiological Indexes of Euphorbia pulcherrima

An experiment was conducted to study the effects of different watering frequencies and fertilizer amount on the growth of potted Euphorbia pulcherrima in terms of root morphology and physiological indexes.Results showed that watering when the water content of substrate was 50% and applying 667mg per pot could improve the development of E.pulcherrima greatly,and the total root tips,accumulative root length,total root surface area,total root volume,as well as the physiological indexes of E.pulcherrima roots were significantly better than those of other treatments.These conclusions provide a technical support for further research on the requirement rule of water and fertilizer for E.pulcherrima and the precise control of production of potted E.pulcherrima.
