LI Zeng~1,CAO Yan~2(1.College of Foreign Languages,Northeast Normal University,Changchun 130024,China;2.Foreign Languages Department,Anshan Normal University,Anshan 114000,China)
Dickens is not only a great realistic novelist but also a novelist with a strong tendency of Romanticism. He created a series of novels with the characteristics of Romanticism through absorbing thoughts from the French thinker Rousseau and the Romantic writers of the early 19~(th) century.Great Expectations, his masterpiece, typically reflects the creative thoughts of Romanticism-"Returning to Nature" and paying attention to children. The study of this novel's writing techniques—which embody apparent Romantic characteristics-will rectify our past prejudices, deepen our understanding of Dicken's creative thoughts and widen the study of his artistic accomplishments.
