Effect of replacing nutrient solution mode on nitrogen utilization for aeroponic lettuce

In this paper,Lactuca sativa L.var.ramosa Hort.is selected as the object,and different modes of replacing nutrient solution are adopted to study the nitrogen utilization.Results show that nitrogen,especially nitrate nitrogen(NO_3-N)in the nutrient solution is less consumed,while the consumed ammonia nitrogen(NH_4-N)to NO_3-N ratio is increased from 21 to 30days.Therefore,NO_3-N should be appropriately reduced or NH_4-N be appropriately increased in the formula at this stage to meet plant demand and save fertilizer.The longer nutrient solution is recycled,more obvious nitrogen form transformation is discovered,and the different concentration of nitrite nitrogen(NO_2-N)is appeared in the nutrient solution.It is not sufficient to reflect the plant utilization of nutrient solution based solely on the loss rate of nitrogen.In addition,absorption rate of nitrogen,inadequate supplies of nitrate nitrogen at the middle and the latest stage of growth also have great influence on effective absorption and utilization of plant nitrogen.Replacing complete nutrient solution is the most favorable to reduce the nitrate content in vegetable products and improve plant nitrogen uptake and conversion.But it will produce large waste liquid.
