Study on Structural Determination and Anti-tumor Activity of Fomes Pinicola Polysacchrides FP_2

A glucan has been isolated from Pinioola Fomes fruit bodies. Its molecular weight was about 214Kd. [α] = 49°, η(SP)= 0. 22, FP2 contain 1. 8% protein. Complexformation with Congo Red and effects of concentrations of NaOH on indicated character of main chain composed of β (1→3) GLc. The structure of FP2 was determined by periodate oxidation, Smith degration, methylation, I. R etc. The main chain of FP2 is composed of β(1→3) linked GLc, Single β (1→6) linked GLc attached, on average, to every three sugar residue of the main chain. The polysacchrides combine protein by forming o-glycosidic bonds through Thr and Ser, FP2 has been examined by β-elimation. FP2 was not found the antitumor activity on the Sarcoma 180 cells.
