Principle and overview of parallel coordinates

Parallel coordinates is one of the mainstream technology of information visualization. A notable merit of parallel coor- dinates is its well-founded mathematical foundation. Its projective geometrical interpretation and duality properties facilitate the simultaneous projection information representation of multiple low dimension subspaces. The principle of parallel coordinates are introduced firstly, then the differentiable curves' representation in parallel coordinate space is derived. The research status of parallel coordinates is reviewed, the potential of parallel coordinates in visual data analysis and pattern recognition is analyzed and future works are also pointed out finally.
