Research on the Influence of Operation Modes to VFTO in 750 kV GIS

With the wide use of the ultra-high voltage gas-insulated substation(GIS),hazards of VFTO caused by disconnectors(DS) and circuit breakers(CB) operation become more and more obvious.Taking the Northwest China Guanting 750kV GIS substation as prototype,numerical simulation and analysis was carried out on VFTO at the GIS under different operating mode using electromagnetic transient program(EMTP),focusing on analysis of effects of over-voltage limiting of metal oxide arrester (MOA) under different operating modes.The results show that: protective effect of MOA was more obvious when DS has not switching resistance;effect of MOA embodied on the devices near MOA,the inhibitory effect was smaller for VFTO on the equipment apart from the MOA;because of the VFTO duration is very short and very little energy through the MOA.
