The First GSSP (Golden Spike) in China

Chen Xu Wang Zhihao Zhang Yuandong (Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanjing,210008)
A continuous section through Darriwilian strata (Middle Ordovician) at Huangnitang, Changshan, Zhejiang of China has been well studied. Continuous graptolite and conodont sequences from this section provide a global correlative standard. The base of the U. austrodentatus Zone in Huangnitang section (between bed AEP183 and AEP184) has then been approved by the Ordovician Subcommission, Commission on Stratigraphy respectively, and by the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) finally as a GSSP for the base of Darriwilian Stage.
