Environment-Friendly Anodizing Process for Magnesium Alloys

An environment-friendly anodizing process without chromate and phosphate for magnesium alloys is developed by adding a certain amount of corrosion inhibitor and additive.The effects of anodizing temperature and time,NaOH and additive on the film are also discussed,which indicates that the film prepared at 50~70℃,20~30 min has good performance.The structure of the film is studied by X-ray diffraction(XRD).And corrosion resistance of the film is determined by drop test and corrosion potential in 3.5% NaCl solution.The results show that the oxidation film is mainly composed of Mg(OH)_2 and Al(OH)_3 and corrosion resistance of the magnesium alloy improved greatly after being anodized.
