Investigation of Social Support and Depression and Feeling on Work of Nurses in Emergency Department

Objective To explore the social support and depression and of nurses in emergency department. Method Used Social Support Scales, Beck Depression Investigation(BDI) and self-made questionnaire to investigate 107 nurses in emergency departments of 4 provincial hospitals and 3 metropolitan hospitals. Result The social support of nurses in emergency department was little and most of nurses have depression. It is showed that there was middle-lever negative correlation between the social support and the depression. Especially, nurse’s family members provided little social support. Conclusion The mental status of nurses in emergency department is terrible and their social support is not enough. So we should take steps to improve their mental health.
