Effect of Family Health Education on the Family Burden with Schizophrenia

Objective:To investigate the effect of the family education on the family burden with schizophrenic patients.Methods:157 schizophrenic outpatients were randomly divided into two groups,research group(79 cases) and control group(78 cases).The two groups both use antipsychotic,the research group added family mental health education.Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale(BPRS),and Family Burden Scale(FBS) were used to assess at baseline and 6 months followed up,and compare the drug therapy compliance of two group.Results:At 6 months,patients receiving family health eductaion showed greater improvement from baseline compared with antipsychotic treatment alone in BPRS total scores,FBS total scores and factors of FBS(p0.01).Conclusions:The family heallh education decreased the family burden of shhizophrenia.
