Homogeneity and Heterogeneity Postulate of Enterprises and Arrangement of their Ownership——the Economic Analysis of two Enterprise Governances

Lian Jianhui,Huang Wenfeng
In this essay, the author goes into two different corporate governance theories from the view of enterprise behavior.Different theories of the firm use different analytical conventions to study the characteristics of enterprise behavior. On the basis of "perfect competition market model" and the homogeneity postulate of firms, neoclassic economists conclude that shareholders should be the dominant factor in the enterprise governanace. The contract theory of the firm draws the same conclusion because it insists on the analytical convention of neoclassic econmics. The competence theory of the firm focuses on the productivity of the firm contract and makes the heterogeneity postulate of firms which leads to joint governance by the human capital owners and non-human capital owners in the enterprise.
