On-line guiding behaviors on the part of tutors and its strategy

The distributed feature of web-based distance teaching system spanning time and space defines the loosing nature of its learning organization mode and easily separates the learning and teaching behaviors.Through effective information communication and pulling force created from interaction between distance learners and distance tutors,integration of teaching and learning behaviors can be realized.According to features and requirements of web-based learning environment,tutors must adopt guiding behaviors adapted to web-based environment and participate in learning activities of the learners.These guiding behaviors are:setting up objective system adapted to learning behavior requirements of the learners including offering criteria of course design,guiding tutors and learners in communication,making assessment of learning activities,guiding and fostering learners in consciousness of learning activities;designing contents and format of learners' learning diary and recommending learners with basic method of writing learning diary;according to the progress of course implementation,effectively organizing and operating discussion agenda,fixing suitable time period,concrete discussion items,and sequence for personnel presiding and recording the discussion;setting up clarified flow of learning tasks,offering learners with detailed contents to fulfill the learning tasks,relative thinking method and way of solving problems,priority order of tasks,timetables,examples,assessment criteria,concrete procedures to acquire assistance,and actively receiving questions from the learners.To sum up,on-line guiding behaviors on the part of tutors can not only facilitate interaction between learners and tutors to form better learning atmosphere,but also specify learning behaviors of the learners and maintain their concentration of learning on the part of learners.
