THE ANALYSIS OF CHARACTERS OF HIGH YIELD VARiETIES OF SUMMER SOYBEAN

Hao Xinxian Jiang Huilan Li Xinghua Ding Fawu Wang Jinlong Peng Jiqing(Institule of Crops Shandong Academy of Agricultural sciences)  
The experiment results showed that more pods, higher grain weight and more grains per node and higher grain-stem ratio were the desirable characters for the high yield varieties of soybeans sown as summer crop. The most potential way to raise yield was increasing the grain-stem ratio. The node number on main stem of high yield varieties were 12.32% less than that of the low yield ones and their plant heights and internode length were decreased significantly. Over tall plants and heavy stems were disadvantage fo yield potentiality. The data indicated that net photosynthetic rate of high yield varieties were 9.23% higher than that of the poor ones. High yield potentiality was not related with grain, stem and their total weights per plant. In fact, plant weights nearly were the same for the higher, middle and lower yield varieties. Resistance to virus disease was very important to yield potentiality and stability. The path analysis demonstrated that the direct, negative effects of stem weight and plant height on the grain-stem ratio and the positive but light effect of grain weight on the ratio, which effected it through plant height and stem weight. It could be considered that the difference of yield potentiality depended mainly upon the utilization efficiency of photosynthate for grain development and growth.
