RECENT PROGRESS IN STUDY ON SALT TOLERANCE IN SOYBEAN

Yu Bingjun Liu Youliang (Department of Agronomy, Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing 210095)  
This paper has reviewed recent progress in study on salt tolerance of soybean (Glycine L.), including ion toxicity, changes of membrane lipids and proteins, active oxygen damage, nodules and salt glands. The salt tolerance is promoted not only by physiological mechanisms, such as osmotic adjustment, changes of membrane components, removing active oxygen, but also by morphological structures, i.e. nodules and salt glands. The pathways of biological improvement and comprehensive exploitation of saline soil, and the researching direction in the future are also discussed.
