Plasma enhanced micro arc oxidation on the surface of aluminum alloys

LAI Yongchun, SHI Xiuling, HUA Ming(Radiation Beam and Material Engineering Laboratory. Institute of Low Energy Nuclear Physics, Beijing Normal University. Beijing Radiation Centre. Beijing 1000875)  
A ceramic oxidating layer with thickness of 20~200 μm could be prepared on the surface of aluminum alloys with the method of micro arc oxidation (MAO) technology. MAO film shows high hardness of 800~1 500 HV, good wearresistance, corrosion resistance, and insulation properties. The technology will have broad application in various industrial fields, such as textile and machinery industries, etc.
