Characteristics, applications and research direction of micro-arc oxidation technology

Abstrcat The advantages of micro-arc oxidation technology were summarized including excellent wear resistance and corrosion resistance, uniform thickness and color of films, simple procedures, high production efficiency and being environmentally friedly, and its disadvantages were also pointed out. The application prospects of micro-arc oxidation technology to aluminum alloys, magnesium alloys and titanium alloys were presented. The research on micro-arc oxidation technology will focus on such aspects as the production capacity of equipments and energy utilization, the diversity of film' color, and the brightness and roughness of film surface.
