Industrial research on the recycle of nickel-containing wastewater by novel nanofiltration membrane

The research on the application of a novel nano-filtration membrane to the treatment of high-concentration nickel-containing wastewater discharged from electroplating industry was introduced.The rinse water from nickel-seal electroplating was concentrated to more than 20 000 mg/L with an average flux of more than 40 L/(h.m2) at an operation pressure of 2.2 MPa and feed flow rate of 1 800 L/h.The retention rate was 99% for Ni2+,90% for organic additives,35% for boric acid,and 100% for micropore-forming agent.The concentrate and permeate solution were recycled back into bright nickel electroplating bath and nickel-seal rinsing tank,respectively.The results of 60-day plant running showed that the treatment process meets the requirement of electroplating production.The problem of membrane surface contamination was solved by water cycle operation for 5 min after each batch and by recirculation with 2% citric acid for 30 min after running every five days.The technology meets the requirement for industrial operation and demonstrates significant social and economic benefits.
