Treatment of printed circuit board comprehensive wastewater by submerged membrane bioreactor

A home-made submerged membrane bioreactor (SMBR) device was used to treat the comprehensive wastewater from the printed circuit board(PCB) industry. The variation of sludge biological phase,sludge properties such as SV_(30)(settled volume in 30 min),SVI(settled volume index),MLSS(mixed liquor suspended solids) and MLVSS (mixed liquor volatile suspended solids),and parameters of water quality such as pH,copper ion concentration and chemical oxygen demand(COD) were monitored during acclimation.The results showed that the swimming ciliates, sessile ciliates(epistylis,vorticella),rotifer,aeolosoma hemprichi,arcella and sessile ciliates become the dominant species alternately.The MLSS was 6 100 mg/L,SV_(30) 29%-38.5%and SVI 75-90 mL/g at the end of acclimation when the mass concentration of copper ions reached 12 mg/L. The COD,copper ion concentration and pH of the treated wastewater reached the first class discharge standard of Guangdong province.The removal efficiency of COD and copper ion were above 85%and 95%,respectively.
