Aerodynamic Performance Optimization for VTVL Hypersonic Aerospace Vehicle

The design of a reusable VTVL(Vertical Takeoffand Vertical Landing)hypersonic aerospace vehicle is critically influnced by the reentry aerodynamic performance. Trade studies are performed to optimize the vehicle configuration, giving out a biconic aeroshape with four bottom scarfed surfaces and split flaps for reentry aerodynamic stability and control. Wind tunnel experiments are also conducted to analyse the basic aerodynamic characteristics of selected configuration, and longitudinal aerodynamic characteristics of vehicle are presented here.
