Uterine artery embolization for treating or preventing obstetrics hemorrhage

Objective To investigate the value of uterine artery embolization for treating or preventing obstetrics hemorrhage. Methods Thirty-one obstetrics patients were undergone uterine artery embolization, in which there were 5 suffered from postpartum hemorrhage, 4 with hemorrhage after uterine-incision delivery, 3 with hemorrhage for heterotopic pregnancy, 4 with hemorrhage for other causes, and 12 referred to abortion because of heterotopic pregnancy or scar pregnancy. With the gelatin sponge or coils, uterine artery or/and ovarian artery, internal pudendal artery of 31 patients were embolized. Results All patients achieved hematischesis without serious complications. Conclusion The uterine artery embolization is safe, effective in treating or preventing obstetrics hemorrhagic disease.
