RESEARCH ON ACTIVE FAULTS IN THE SHANDONG PENINSULA

Based on data obtained by geological survey in the past few years,it is found that the faults in the Shandong Peninsula being active generally in the middle Pleistocene(Q 2).The Q 2 period is a main stage for active faults.During the late Pleistocene(Q 3),the faults were active only in local areas.The discovery of active faults of Q 3 has provided an important evidence to determine the seismogenic structures for moderately strong earthquake s in the Shandong Peninsula.The features of fault activities in the Shandong Peninsula in Quaternary are different from that of both in the Luxi region(west of Shandong Province) and along the Tanlu fault zone.However,it is similar to that in the Korean Peninsula.
