A DP structure headed by De

Xiong,Zhongru
“De” (的) can be a phonological realization of the functional category D, which renders the whole phrase have the nominal-features. D takes an nP as its complement, and the functional category n in the nP can make V/A have the nominal-features with syntactic dualism. D has the strong EPP-feature, and the feature triggers the partial movement in nP. Hence, the stayed element of nP is an argument, an adjunction or a lexical head. If they are dropped in the PF, their recoverability may have different difficulties in the performance system.
