A MULTI-VARIABLE STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF ECO-ENVIRONMENTAL DATA ON THE DIFFERENT KASCHIN-BECK DISEASE REGIONS IN CHINA
Bai Nai-bin (Institute of Environmental Chemistry, Academia Sinica, Beijing)
The data on the different Kaschin-Beck disease regions in China have been processed by multi-variable statistical analysis method, including cluster analysis, principal component analysis, factor analysis, linear discriminant analysis and patter recognition.
We draw the following conclusions from present study:
1. In the eco-environmer,t of difierent Kaschin-Beck regions, effects of the trace elements, such as Se, Mo, Mn, Zn, Cu and Fe on the incidence of endemic Kaschin-Beck disease are much the same, but there- also are some differences in detail.
2. The Se element level in human hair lived in these disease regions is able to be an index to predict the incident of that disease, and it plays a key role in charactering as this effect.
3. In the North-East of China, in the endemic regions, there is a particular effect of Mn element upon the incidence of that disease, thouth it is of no importance.
