Analysis for non-thermal effects of pulsed current electromagnetic fields on biological membranes

A model is presented for mechanisms by which biological effects can take place in biological material as a result of a pulsed electromagnetic field. The results show that pulsed electromagnetic fields, produced by pulsed current discharging in high voltage environment, can change the shift of ion concentration across a membrane when the amplitude of electromagnetic fields is weak, and can cause the breakdown of membrane when the amplitude of electromagnetic fields is strong enough. So it is important to take electromagnetic protection in high voltage pulsed current discharging environment.
