New contactless electrical energy transmission system realizes contactless power delivery to apparatus with no electrical connection or physical contact by the perfect combination of inductive coupling technique and power electronics, which eliminates the risk of electric shock, short circuit, or sparking. This paper establishes the mathematic model of this system, and investigates the effect of compensation topology, operational frequency, and load on system characteristics. Final results show that secondary compensation can improve the power transfer capability greatly, while primary compensation can reduce the required VA rating of the power supply obviously, which is a major system cost.
