A NEW METHOD FOR GENERATING GROUND MOTIONS WITH CONSIDERING THE EARTHQUAKE ENVIRONMENT

By combining the empirical Green' s function method with the technique of generating response spectrum-compatible ground motion,a new method for generating earthquake time-history is suggested. In which,the ground motion of a future strong earthquake is synthesized by using smaller earthquake record available in the region,and it is taken as an initial accelerogram of generating ground motion. By adjusting the amplitude of the initial data' s Fourier components to match a particular ordinate of the target response spectrum,the accelerograms that we need can be obtained. The effects of earthquake source site,direction of fault cracking,medium,and the local soil condition on the ground motion are taken into account in the method presented here. The simulated accelerograms are of nonstationary characteristics in time and frequency. And the envelope function of acceleration time history is not emerging in the generating procedure.
