Chopra's yielding-displacement capacity-demand diagram method and seismic damage analysis and performance-based design of R. C. structures

A method for evaluating structural seismic performance-demand is presented. Firstly, the relationship between structural capacity spectrum and damage index is built, and various structural allowable ductility indexes for different levels seismic damage performance objectives are provided. Secondly, structural seismic damage ductility index is calculated by Chopra's yielding-displacement capacity-demand metbod. Thirdly, the structural performance-based seismic capacity is evaluated by the relationship between structural seismic damage ductility index and allowable ductility index. Finally, the calculating process is showed by an example.
