Exact numerical solution of foundation dynamic stiffness and its lumped parameter model

The dynamic stiffness matrix of the infinite half - space at the soil - structure interface is the key to the analysis of soil - structure interaction. A new approach to calculate the dynamic stiffness of the unbounded medium is discussed in this paper. Two examples show the results coinciding well with the analytical solution. A practical method is also introduced to obtain time domain response from the dynamic stiffness in frequency domain. This research offers a new and reli able theoretical approach to the rigid foundation design.
