Analysis of semi-active control for comfort of tall building due to wind-induced vibration by using MR damper

Controlling the comfort of tall building due to wind induced vibration is important for structure design. In this paper, based on MR(magneto rheological)damper, a comfor table design method is presented. As know to all, the criterion of the comfort is structural acceleration. First of all, by comparing the acceleration results of building code and the simulation of computer, the fluctuating wind is modulated to be design wind load. Then, the optimal location of MR damper in structure is chosen based on the control effect. And then, the requirement of comfort is met by effectively controlling the acceleration through the optimal distribution of MR damper. Finally, the reasonable parameters of MR damper are confirmed.
