Precision problems in calculating response spectra by using numerical method

The precision and other problems in calculating response spectra by using precision method and other numerical methods are discussed. As follows are some conclusions: 1 Precision method is better than others for calculating response spectra synthetically considering three factors which are precision, stability and efficiency. 2 Ratio λ_h is the most important parameter which influences the numerical precision,and ratio λ_0 is less important than λ_h. 3 Fourier method is also an aproximate method , which can not be used as a benchmark for measuring the precision of other methods. (4) Linear interpolation technique for ground motion will result in some errors in the high frequency region for calculating response spectra by using precision method.
