The ground motion near vertical cracks in fault sites

A homogeneous half space fault site including a small vertical crack is considered with three kinds of different depths(20m,40m,80m) respectively.A pulse wave travels along a homogeneous,isotropic and elastic half-space vertically and with an angle of incidence of 30°,respectively.The time history responses of seismic ground motion and the amplitude spectra of transfer function are computed near the vertical cracks.Compared with the seismic responses of free homogeneous half space,the results present the effect of vertical cracks on the propagation of seismic wave and the ground motion near the fault site.In addition the influence of the fault site on the surrounding structures is discussed to prove the regularity in seismic design and some significant suggestions are provided.
