Nonlinear simulation for hysteretic behavior of C steel members with intermediate stiffeners under constant compression and cyclic bending

The hysteretic behavior of common C steel members with large width-to-thickness ratio is bad.In order to overcome the weakness,the hysteretic behavior of C steel members with and without intermediate stiffener were compared at first.The results show that the intermediate stiffener is effective to modify the hysteretic behavior of thin-wall C steel members.Then the hysteretic behavior,deformed shapes and the final failure modes of C steel members with intermediate stiffeners under constant compression and cyclic bending were carefully analyzed.Finally,the aseismatic behavior of the thin-wall C steel members with intermediate stiffeners were assessed by ductility coefficients,and some preliminarily suggestions for the aseismatic design of thin-wall steel members were put forward.
