Longitudinal nonlinear pounding study of large-scale aqueduct under earthquake

In this paper,according to the dynamic model of thin-wall aqueduct,the longitudinal nonlinear pounding analysis under earthquake is developed with Kelvin pounding model.The seismic ground motions with various site conditions and various peak accelerations are selected and with these seismic ground motions,the longitudinal seismic pounding response of the aqueduct for the project of diliverting water from south to north is studied.The calculation result shows that the clearance of expansion joint affects the pounding response a lot.The pounding response is sensitive to the frequency spectrum of input ground motions.Comparing the pounding responses and non pounding responses under earthquake,the results are different obviously.It is necessary to study the nonlinear seismic pounding responses of large-scale aqueduct.
