Seismic appraisal and strengthening design of multi-storey masonry structures after Wenchuan earthquake

On the basis of the research on a typical damaged multi-storey building in Mianzhu City,Sichuan Province,the general damage phenomena of masonry buildings during Wenchuan earthquake are described.Several seismic appraisal methods are introduced and various strengthening conditions and effects are compared.The procedures from damage investigation to seismic reinforcement are put forward,which may provide a reference for seismic strengthening design of masonry structures after 2008 Wenchuan earthquake.
