EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON DOUBLE CIRCULAR RINGMILD STEEL ENERGY DISSIPATOR

ln this papcr, a new energy dissipator design idea of “ energy dissipator can make two or more elements work and dissipate energy in cooperation” is put forward. On the basis of the idea, three different kinds of double circular ring ndld steel energy dissipators (DCRMSEDs) are designed. The comparative experiment of DCRMSEDs un- der low cyclic reveraed loading is conducted. The working behavior and energy dissipating behavior are investigated, The mechanism of energy dissipating is studied and the restoring model of DCRMSEDs is set up. The experimental results show that DCRMSEDs can dissipate a great deal of energy by yielding of mdld steel circular ring and is an effective energy dissipation device with simple oonstruction, easy in designing and making, high initial stiffness and yielding force, stable in working behavior and hysteretic behavior. lts application prospect appears to be highly promising.
