ULH Technology and Standard

Yang Zhu (Wuhan Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications, Wuhan 430074)  
This paper introduces the WDM optical transmission technologies for the ultra-long haul (ULH), and, their standards and characteristic is discussed. The stress are the OSNR and the optical path penalty, to point out the 15dB for the OSNR of ULH system, to must be considered the optical path penalty for ULH system, moreover to affirm that Raman fiber amplifier is used to set your heart at rest.
